Underpass below the Staines bypass at the Crooked Billet roundabout - the Crooked Billet was demolished a few years ago This water works is probably the finest building left in Staines, a joint enterprise of the Three Rivers, Grand Junction and West Middlesex water companies who built the first Staines reservoir You go past it on the bypass just west of the Crooked Billet roundabout This isn't the 'Staines Waterworks' of the poem by Peter Redgrove, which describes those on the Thames at Egham (see also Kept Ephemera for the poem) |
