Gurkha Veterans Demand Justice

Old Palace Yard, Westminster, London. Wed 9 Oct 2013

Gurkhas at one of their regular protests to try to get proper pensions and just treatment

Many of the men wore the medals from their British army service. Gurkha widows demand equal rights too - most are in extreme poverty

The Gurkhas presented a petition in April to the Prime Ministers of the UK and Nepal

They say they have not received any proper response from the government despite regular protests

and have decided that unless they get a satisfactory response by 24th October will begin a series of hunger strikes, at first in relays

but from November 7 they will begin a hunger strike until death.
