Walking the Darent Way

Eynsford to Dartford, Kent. Mon 5 April 2015

The road into Eynsford from the station

And there is still a ford - and HGVs and coaches have to use it

The sweet shop used to be something more useful

Wisely a cyclist avoids the ford

But this driver did it for fun

And the police car took a short cut

Lack of planning meant we missed a visit to the castle (free entry too)

There is a path in the field along most of Sparepenny Lane, but you come back onto the road as you approach Farningham

There are quite a few empty shops on London Rd Farningham, and I think they are owned by the mill owner

The White House should be the Black & White House. It says AD1743.

Some of the houses around the mill are old

But the whole setting is rather Disney than authentic

The bridge over the Darent

The path goes alongside the river on the same bank as the Lion Hotel - despite a misleading map just over the bridge

The mill stream rejoins the river just above the road bridge
