Walking the Darent Way

Eynsford to Dartford, Kent. Mon 5 April 2015

The river here is narrow and fast-flowing

The footpath downriver from Frank's Lane has a 'No Horseriding' sign

Millen Court on the former site of Westminster Mill, a flour mill which burnt down in 1908 and was replaced by
a shoe lace factory which closed in 1991.

 C18 Dovecote, Court Lodge Farm

 Dovecote and barns

The first trains ran across the viaduct in 1858 (or 1860 depending who you believe). Thomas Cubitt was the architect

The 230 ft listed chimney built in 1881 for the paper factory is a local landmark. The paper mill replaced earlier corn mills
in 1820 and produced high quality paper (good enough for The Tatler) and the factory closed in 2003.

St. Margaret of Antioch, The Parish Church of Darenth. Built from 940AD, substantial parts still Norman, but
greatly 'restored' in 1868 and 1888. Grade 1 listed, thought to be the 6th oldest church in the UK

The Norman font is still used
