Lyme Disease - Urgent action needed

Downing St, London. Wed 13 May 2015

A woman shows me a small plastic box with several dead ticks inside it

I didn't have a macro lens with me, but there are two 'large' ticks and three small ones in the box

There were some wooly knitted ticks with messages

'The NHS tests for Lyme disease are very inaccurate'

'When will our Doctors become Lyme-Literate?'

'This banner represents 122 Chronic Lyme Sufferers who are too ill to be here
- and the woman in front is getting proper treatment for her Lyme disease but still has to carry a seat and rest frequently

Next door was a regular anti-abortion display - and a large number of children came past

The campaigners pose for another photographer

A woman has five detailed case histories on a placard around her neck

A woman poses next to a poster about her experience of having Lyme Disease, mis-diagnosed for years

knitted ticks are safe, but learn to avoid, check your skin for and remove the real thing promptly to keep well
