Cotswold Holiday
Upper Swell & Stow-on-the-Wold
Private Road to Donnington Brewery on the site of a 13th century mill
on the River Dikler - mill pond at right.
This is the entrance to Donnington Brewery. Thomas Arkell bought a
watermill here in 1827 and began brewing
in 1865. They still use the mill wheel and the machinery installed
in the 1860s and use recipes from the 19th century
The road leads down past the brewery, which gets its water from a
local spring
Donnington Brewery. There is a 62-mile circular walk called ‘The
Donnington Way’ linking most of their pubs
