Barclays Stop Funding Climate Chaos
Piccadilly Circus, London. Sat 19 May 2018
The group met in Golden Square and then walked slowly and silently
in line
along the streets towards Piccadilly Circus
Some people didn't seem to notice them, but others took photographs
and watched them
When they arrived they spread out a banner in front of the Barclays
Bank
and four of them walked inside. Three wearing black had come to meditate
while the fourth told the bank staff why they were there and what
they intended to do
Bank staff made no attempt to stop them as they prepared to sit and
meditate
There was a discussion with the fourth member of the group which continued
for several minutes
Meanwhile, four of those outside were also meditating
Inside a member of the bank staff was making a phone call as the meditation
continued
I waited for a few minutes, expecting the police to arrive
Eventually I had to leave to go to another protest. The meditation was continuing
both inside and outside the branch.
