Eton Wick

Berkshire. Mon 14 Jan 2019

I caught a bus to Old Windsor which goes through Englefield Green, past the cemetery

 and the green

We then were driven to Eton Wick, parkin gby the Greyhoud pub - whicj was these figures on its roof

We walked down a lane and then turned off on a footpath beside a ditch across Eton Great Common

I think this was a watering place for cattle, though there were none in sight

The path goes under the A322 (The Royal Windsor Way)

 where there was some graffiti

 and junk

Further on there was a lifebelt

Brunel's great viaduct, built for broad gauge, built between 1861-5 is one of the longest viaducts in the UK

The line is a branch from Slough to Windsor and runs into Windsor and Eton Central station (also by Brunel)

 Bridge over Eton Wick Road

One of the posts marking the National Cycle Network

Graffiti on the viaduct and Windsor Castle. Helch is apparently a"word used to show disgust to peas and landmarks"

 steps up to the A322

and the A322 bridge across a backwater of the River Thames

The brdige carries the Thames path across the backwater

Looking roughy north across South Field

Bicycle at Athens, an Eton College bathing place on the THames

 Bathing Regulations At Athens

 and a memorial there

The Walk goes up to the Greyhound Pub

Coming back on the bus - Englefield Green

and I walked back along Richmond Road, Staines
