People's Trial of the Home Office

Home Office, London. Mon 11 Feb 2019



 Global Women's Strime and All African WOmen's Group get their banners ready outside the Home Office

 and furniture arrives to set up the courtroom

 

 

 The players get ready
     
 More banners are put up. Unlike the Home Office, 'God's Love Knows No Borders'

 The director of the play in an orange scarf gives some instruction to the judges

 
      
 Some hold posters listing some of the women killed by being forced out of flats in Soho by police and council crackdowns to be murdered on the streets

 

 and call for decriminalisation of prostitution

 
     
 

 A witness from the All African Women's Group reads her evidence before performing

 

 Two refugees were among the witnesses. Asylum seekers a disbeleived and ill-treated as policy by the Home

 Office, held, sometimes for years in detention, subjected to assaults, denied proper medical treatment.

 More witnesses come to give evidence, SOAS Detainee Support reading out some of the accounts from women in detention
     
 

 'End the Hostile Environment'

 A poster lists people 'Killed by Police for Being Black & In Mental Distress'

 Evidence calls for the decriminalisation of sex work which would make it safer

 and people hold up lists of some of those who have died because of Home Office actions and policies
