Kashmir Indian Independence Day Protest

India House, London. Thu 15 Aug 2019

I was late in arriving as the protest had brough traffic in a large area of London to a standstill. Aldwych was full

of people and it was hard to move. I could hear a lively protest at the side of India House, but the crowd and police

made it impossible to get there.

Some of the protesters supported the Pakistan claim to Kashmir

while others were calling for a free and independent Kashmir

but they were united in calling for an end to the Indian military occupation of the country

'It's not about religion ... It's about humanity'

'We will not stop until there is a peace in Kashmir'

'Hold India Accountable for those Killed in Fake Encounters & Buried in Unnamed Unmarked Mass Graves

Police and Mounted police in front of the embassy

'India's Brutal Record On Kashmir: 70,000+ killed 10,000 missing ...'- and those raped and deliberately blinded

People stamp of a poster with a picture of Prime Minister Modi

'India Stop Genocide in Kashmir... Where is United Nations?? Kashmir is Bleeding'

'You have taken my sight away - but vision of Freedom Stil Lives' - Indian forces have deliberately blinded Kashmiri rebels

 'Stop Another Holocaust in Kashmir'

A Sikh flag for an independent Sikh Khalistan

 Some protesters had red hands

'UN Resolution is the solution - Stand with Kashmir'

Sahibzada A Jahangir, spokesman to the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Posters call Indian Independence Day a Black Day

 'First Hitler Now Modi'

'Modi is Hitler of South Asia'

I left around 4pm as the protest here was finishing and people were drifting away
