XR Rebel Rising March to the Common

Greenwich, London. Sat 17 Aug 2019

People wait for the march to start, some holding fish skeletons

A woman has XR symbols in bright red on her cheeks

The group met in front of the Cutty Sark

and a man with an XR sticker on his forehead

A young rebel was wearing a boat

 The 'Towards the Common!' banner

Eventually the drums and some drummers arrived

And the march lined up - with the RMT European Passenger Services banner

 and people with XR flags

One group went down to block the road to allow the march to leave

The carried a banner - and could be the last generation of humans

Two roads had to be blocked to allow the march to go around the junction

and the 'Are We The Last Generation' banner blocks one of them

and the 'Life Or Death' banner the other

and the march proceeds 'Towards the Common!'

through the center of Greenwich, usually busy with traffic

with the masts of the Cutty Sark in the background

It goes down the path at the bottom of the park

'Act Now' a bicycle as a boat as a reminder of rising sea levels

A banner against the Silvertown Tunnel - which would require huge carbon output to build and promote traffic

and the march turns at the back of the National Maritime Museum to go up the slope of Greenwich Park

I walked up most of the hill with the marchers, then ran back down to catch a train at Maze Hill
