Brixton anti-racist march

Brixton, London. Sat 14 Sep 2019

The anti-racist event had already started by the time I arrived in Windrush Square

and Anna was speaking, calling for freedom of movement and an end to the continuing persecution of Windrush

family members and other migrants. Many EU citizens - like Anna who was born in Italy - may be hounded out

 of the country after Brexit.

Eulalee who has been fighting the Home Office for 16 years

A member of Lambeth Unison Black Workers' Group speaks

People stand around the square to listen to the speeches

People pick up posters ready to march around Brixton. The posters are by the event organisers, Movement for

Justice - and they get ready for the march

 which slowly sets off

 And goes up Electric Lane

'Windrush Apology NOT Accepted - We Want Justice for ALL our Elders, their descendants and families'

 Eulalee leads some chanting

'Racism Drove Brexit - Brexit is Driving Racism - Stop Brexit'

'We are here to stay - Stop Scapegoating Immigrnats - End the Hostile Environment - Amnesty for All'

 Eulalee speaks in Brixton Market

Most people walking past take a flyer. Some stop for some time to listen. The protest seems to get a very

 positive reception in the market.

One or two people stop and argue but most show an interest

'Bring Down the Government - Brexit is racist - No More Hostile Environment'
