Stand With Hong Kong

Westminster, London. Sat 23 Nov 2019

I arrived as people were lining up to leave Parliament Square. A Hon Kong colonial era flag

'HK Gov is waging WAR on the People'

 'Bloody Carrie'

 'Stand with HK'

Most of the marchers were in black and wore face masks

 'Taiwan Stands with Hong Kong'

Posters for two of the five demands - an independent inquiry into police behaviour and genuine universal suffrage

'Will Britain Stand with Hong Kong in the fight for Freedom?'. Unfortunately I think the answer will be No.

China is an important and growing trade partner and world power - and the UK will do little or nothing

 'Stop Police Brutalisty'

'China Broke its promise to the UK. Will Britain stand with Hong Kong?'

The marchers go up Parliament St towards Downing St

and stop at the gates to Downing St

A man holds up his hand, 5 fingers for the 5 demands of the Hong Kong protesters

 and another 5 finger gesture

A small group get there details checked to go into Downing St to deliver a letter to the PM

 Others wait outside

An MP from the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Hong Kong speaks

as well as several from Hong Kong

and Hong Kong Watch founder Benedict Rogers who once lived in HK

 'Fight Against Tyranny'

 'Let HongKong be Hongkong'

I left to photograph another event as the rally continued. Later the march moved on to the LSE and then dispersed
