Egyptians at UK-Africa Investment Summit

North Greenwich, London. Mon 20 Jan 2020

Some Egyptians had come to welcome President Sisi

who they say saved the nation. They had some large and glossy posters as well as Egyptian flags.

But rather more had come to protest against him. A line of police kept the two groups seperate.

They called President Sisi a dictator and a murderer

 a killer and a traitor

 wanted for war crimes.

Their banner said 'Egypt is a Republic of Fear Killing, Torture, Rape'

Many raised their hands in the four-finger pro-Morsi RABIA salute (R4BIA)

Sisi has turned Egypt into a police state, arresting the opposition and journalists

'18 Journalists Detained, 3000 military trials for civilians'

'Stop the Violation, Humiliation and Insutl Against Egyptian Women'

A few pro-Sisi protesters were still there when I left
